- • Check the roll label for exact coverage before purchasing
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your room dimensions — length, width, and ceiling height in feet. Use a preset for common room sizes, or enter custom measurements.
- Add doors and windows — each door saves ~21 sq ft of wallpaper; each window saves ~15 sq ft. The calculator deducts these automatically.
- Choose your roll type — US single rolls cover ~27 sq ft; double rolls ~56 sq ft; European rolls ~57 sq ft. Check the label on your chosen wallpaper.
- Select pattern match — this is the biggest variable. Random/no-match adds no extra waste. Large pattern repeats can waste 25%+ of each strip.
- Set waste allowance — 10% is standard; use 15% for diagonal cuts or sloped ceilings. The recommended count always includes 1 extra roll.
- Optional: enable cost estimate — enter your price per roll for a total cost estimate. Buy all rolls from the same dye lot.
How We Calculate
Wall Area = 2 × (Length + Width) × Ceiling Height
Net Area = Wall Area − (Doors × 21) − (Windows × 15)
Effective Area = Net Area × Pattern Match Multiplier
Rolls = ⌈ Effective Area × (1 + Waste%) ÷ Roll Coverage ⌉
Net Area = Wall Area − (Doors × 21) − (Windows × 15)
Effective Area = Net Area × Pattern Match Multiplier
Rolls = ⌈ Effective Area × (1 + Waste%) ÷ Roll Coverage ⌉
Pattern Match Multipliers
Random / No Match ×1.00
Straight Match ×1.08
Half-Drop Match ×1.18
Large Pattern Match ×1.25
